Paper towel roll stackers

I love reusing paper towel rolls for activities! They are so simple to transform into something educational. And when Caroline is bored with it, they are easily tossed! This simple craft targets all sorts of goodies: letter recognition, number recognition, color recognition, and sequencing, all while working on fine motor skills to pick up and place the pieces on a dowel! All you have to do is cut up a paper towel rolls and write some numbers/letters on it. Done!

Items needed:

  • Paper towel roll
  • Scissors
  • Colored markers
  • Sturdy dowel (we reused our ring stacker here)

What we are working on:

  • Fine motor/visual motor: your little is using fine motor coordination and visual motor skills to pick up and place the roll over the dowel to slide the pieces on and off
  • Cognition: The opportunities are endless here! You can work on naming colors, numbers, letters. For older littles you can have them put the numbers or letters in a sequence. Or you can take a piece away and see if they can figure out which one is missing.
